ALTERNATIVES REPORTS
Note: Some changes to alternatives were made between the Draft and Final EIS. These changes are fully described in the
Supplemental Information Report (October 2008) and are reflected on the Alternatives web page.
ALTERNATIVES ANALYSIS REPORT ADDENDUM
In response to Colorado Springs’ request to change its No Action Alternative and Alternative 7 and Reclamation’s request to analyze reuse alternatives, an addendum to the Alternatives Analysis Report was prepared and released to the public in December of 2007.
ALTERNATIVES PUBLIC REVIEW SUMMARY REPORTReclamation is required by National Environmental Policy Act
regulation to develop a reasonable range of alternatives for detail
analysis in the Draft EIS. After developing seven preliminary
alternatives, Reclamation sought input from the public and
interested organizations and agencies in order to identify
additional alternatives that might address environmental issues.
This report summarizes comments received during the alternative
analysis phase of the EIS.

ALTERNATIVES ANALYSIS REPORTThis report describes the process used to develop and screen
alternatives to meet the purpose and needs for the proposed SDS
Project. A sequential screening process considering significant
issues, environmental characteristics, purpose and need and cost,
and significant issues for scoping was used. Seven alternatives were
selected for detailed evaluation in the draft EIS. These
alternatives represents a reasonable range of practicable
alternatives that are responsive to significant scoping issues and
satisfy requirements for alternative selections under National
Environmental Policy Act regulation and section 404 of the Clean
Water Act. The draft EIS will evaluate and compared the relative
effect of these alternatives of resources of concern.
In response to Colorado Springs’ request to change its No Action Alternative and Alternative 7, an addendum to this report was prepared and realeased to the public in September of 2007.It discusses changes to the No Action Alternative and Alternative 7, and an evaluation of potable water reuse alternatives.
