Supplemental Information Report

Between release of the Draft EIS (DEIS) and Final EIS (FEIS), some information used in the analyses changed or was updated. These changes generally included:

  • Modifications to the physical layout of the alternatives to avoid or minimize effects described in the DEIS
  • Modifications to the physical layout of the alternatives to accommodate changes in infrastructure unrelated to the SDS Project
  • Updated or additional effects analyses based on agency and public comments and changes to the alternatives
  • Identification of Reclamation’s Preferred Alternative

A Supplemental Information Report was released to disclose results of additional water quality, Western Slope, and dam failure analyses conducted after release of the DEIS. Additionally, effects of physical changes to the alternatives and reasonably foreseeable actions were reviewed to identify substantial changes that would notably alter previously described effects. Substantial changes from effects as described in the DEIS are discussed in the Supplemental Information Report. Public comments on the DEIS that resulted in substantial new information are also addressed in the Supplemental Information Report. The DEIS, this Supplemental Information Report, and public comments on both documents were used to prepare the FEIS.

The Supplemental Information Report was open to public comment through November 24, 2008. During the public comment period, Reclamation hosted a public hearing in Pueblo, CO on October 29, 2008.
